Biography

Violinist Lucie Saliou (1996) born in France in a musical family; Lucie began studying the violin at age 6.

At the age of 12, she participated in Malakoff competition in Paris, where she obtained cum laude in 8-14 category.

To pursue her violin studies, at 16 she entered at Vannes’s conservatory in Patricia Reibaud’s class where she had opportunities to play as a soloist Mendelssohn concerto and Vivaldi double concerto in the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.

Lucie have had the opportunity to participate in many masterclasses with reknowed violinists such as Grigori Zhislin, Haïk Davtian, Michaël Hentz and the Elysée Quartet.

At 17, she made a tour as a co-concermaster in China, seven concerts in seven days.

One year later, she graduated from the conservatory: National Music Diploma (DEM) in France.

When she was 19, Lucie entered Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam (NL). She started studying with violin & viola Professor Vesna Gruppman and a few years later continued simultaneously with Professor Igor Gruppman who is currently Concermaster of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. They are both legacy of Leonid Kogan, David Oistrakh and Jascha Heifetz. Professors Vesna & Igor Gruppman have become her lifetime mentors.

At the age of 20, Lucie made her chamber music debut in Asia in the Nanjing’s Grand Theater Poly and the Steinway Gallery (Nanjing, China).

At 21 passionate about chamber music, she won the 1st Prize in Sonata Category with Jiajun Li (Pianist) in the Steinway International chamber music competition in China.

For two consecutive years Lucie was part of the Gergiev Festival in Rotterdam, concerts conducted by Maestro Valéry Gergiev.

Later in Bart Von De Roer Chamber music’s Class she participated in the Kamermuziek Prize Competition & the Grachtenfestival with Hyrax Piano Trio (Sander Lekkerker pianist & Laura Gonzales Badanes cellist) and made her debut in De Doelen Concert hall in Rotterdam & TivoliVredenburg Grote Zaal in Utrecht in the Netherlands.

Despite the sanitary situation in June 2020 she graduated as a solo performance & pedagogy from Codarts University of the Arts with cum laude from her Professors Vesna & Igor Gruppman.

Due to the Pandemic Situation Lucie was restraint to stay in France despite many international projects & concerts.

Lucie Saliou is currently teaching at Quimper & Fouesnant Conservatories in France.

Pedagogy is also an important part of her interest with the desire to pursue the Legacy of her Mentors with the Franco-Belgium Russian Violin Tradition. She has researched and described this Violin tradition in her Thesis for graduation.
